ACADEMIC INFORMATION

Where can I find the academic calendar for each campus?

The website has an «Academic Information» section where you would likely find the academic calendar.

What is the language of instruction for the courses?

You can take courses in Spanish and English. A combination of English and Spanish-taught courses can be taken simultaneously.

Are there any language requirements to study at UP?

If Spanish is not your first language and you intend to attend Spanish-taught classes, you must hold at least a B2 level of Spanish (CEFR). The Language Department or your Spanish professor must certify your Spanish level.

Can I take courses from different undergraduate programs?

Courses from different programs, semesters can be chosen.

How many credits can I take per semester?

In UP, there is no minimum number of credits to take and no maximum number. Local students take an average of 42 local credits as a normal workload. The number of credits exchange students can take is a decision of the home university of the students.

How can I get my transcript of records?

The student will receive the official transcript of records through the International Office, which will then be send to the International Office of their home university to create the appropriate validation of the courses taken.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION

What are the admission requirements for exchange students?

In order to apply for an exchange semester, you need to be properly nominated by your home university and send the following information:

Signed rights and responsibility letter
Comprehensive privacy notice
Reference letter issued by your home university. Addressed to the Incoming Coordinator. You can see an example here
Copy of the main page of your passport.
An autobiography letter. Here's a guideline you can follow.
Digital photograph: In color, taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance, taken in full-face view directly facing the camera
International health insurance. To check the requirements please go to insurance-information
Copy of your visa once it's granted by the Mexican consulate (if applicable)
Language proficiency proof.

Does the university offer accommodation for exchange students?

No. UP offers a «Housing» section with information about accommodation options close to campus.

What are the housing options available for students?

We offer options of shared apartments, and home stays.

What is the estimated cost of living in each city (Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Mexico City)?

You can check the information in the “For students” section of the website.

Are there any student clubs that I can join?

You can join all of the Arts and culture clubs and workshops and the sports teams. With no cost.

What kind of support services are available for international students?

We have health services in campus for all of our students. Also, you can access mental health services and academic support for all of our students as well.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

What is the health insurance policy for international students?

Students who apply for an exchange semester are obligated to present an insurance policy before the first day of class, following the requirements enlisted on the section of “For students” section of the website.

Do I need to be vaccinated to study at UP?

No, there’s no vaccination requirement needed.

What opportunities are there for international students to connect with local students?

International students have all of the classes with the local students, offering a great opportunity to bond with them. There’s also clubs, workshops and sport classes offered for free, where local and international students can connect.

Does Universidad Panamericana have a Buddy Program for international students?

Yes, all the international students can apply of the program. It is free.

Who are the buddies?

Buddies are local students who volunteer to help the new exchange students in the adaptation to their life in Mexico.

What kind of support can I expect from my buddy?

Help international students acclimate to the local culture, customs, and social norms.
Promote cross-cultural understanding and friendships.
Foster a sense of belonging by helping international students build a social network within the school or university.
Organize social events, gatherings, and activities to promote interaction and camaraderie.
Assist with practical matters such as campus tours, finding accommodation, understanding public transportation, and accessing local services.

What kind of support and orientation services does the International Office provide upon arrival?

The orientation kicks off with a welcome breakfast and a group photograph. There is an orientation session that covers information about the university, its platforms, services, and migration. Students are given a campus tour and assistance with getting their UP Card, including some social activities.

Students have the support in anything they need during the entire time of the coordinator of each campus.
